The first collection of the Les Petites Ambitieuses is inspired by the minimalist trend. But what is minimalism and how does it relate to fashion?

WHAT IS MINIMALISM?

The exact definition of minimalism is: “The search for solutions requiring the minimum of effort, opposed to maximalism.”

It may sound vague because minimalism is present in all sectors: material goods, social relations, personal but also professional activities.

In other words, minimalism consists in living with only what you need.

And nowadays, minimalism is becoming a new trend. More and more people adopt minimalist practices in their daily lives.

In addition to having an ecological impact, minimalism helps to learn things about ourselves but also about what surrounds us. It helps us focus on what is important to us and what is not. It also shows us what is necessary for our daily lives and what clutters us.

WHAT ARE THE FACTORS OF MAXIMALISM?

Need or Want?

A few years back, people lived with the bare minimum. They were just buying what they needed for their everyday life.

Today is another matter. As a matter of fact, we consume more than our needs. But do we always know what we need? We often mix “need” with “desire”.

However, it is easy to be overwhelmed because we now live in an era where we are face temptation all the time.

Advertising is the most significant factor. It is everywhere: in the subway, on TV, in newspapers, on our phones.

On top of that, with the arrival of social networks, we are more subject to this desire to please and expose all that we have.

Overconsumption in the fashion world

Fast fashion really changed the rules. As a matter of fact, people are now used to find clothes at a very low prices and expect new types of clothes and new styles every season. The fashion cycles got faster.

People accumulate compulsive purchases which, most of the time, have only occasionally come out of the closet. In fact, we only wear 1/3 of our wardrobe.

Who never said : “I don’t have anything to wear” and yet, have a closet full of clothes.

Even if you do not wear it, you bought it and you encourage stores and brands to produce more.

And when the piece of clothing looks old or out of fashion, you simply throw it away.

OUR VISION OF MINIMALISM

By combining simplicity, chic, and quality, we offer timeless clothes both in aesthetics and in the outfit.

Minimalism is also about reducing its consumption. That’s what we wanted to do through Les Petites Ambitieuses: offer quality clothes so that the ⅓ needed for your wardrobe is transformed into 1/1.

Often, minimalism helps us refocus on what we need. It also helps us understand that we do not need much to be appreciated.

Each garment has been designed to make you feel beautiful and strong in your body. So we work hand in hand with the minimalism that reminds you that your best asset is you.

Minimalism is also: knowing how to accept yourself because you are already beautiful. You just need to realize it.
